Mustafa, a street cleaner in a small Swedish town, is having a bad day. When he meets an elederly woman and helps her down some stairs, she passes on a spell to him and Mustafa is transported to Alhambra, the 15th century Spanish castle. Back in his home town, Mustafa meets his last lover, a woman who refused his hand in marriage because of his religion. The two reconcile the past and Mustafa returns to Sweden, passing on the spell to a young bride. Mustafa can only look on in awe as his spell takes hold and the young bride flies away from her own wedding.
