LIGO: THE WAY THE UNIVERSE IS, I THINK
Documentary / Mark Pedri, Carrie McCarthy, Hussain Currimbhoy, dir. / USA/ 2020 / 12 mins / completed
Dr. Rana Adhikari worked as a mechanic in a small gas station in Florida in the late 80s. When a hurricane knocked out the power to his garage, he found himself at a local library to pass the time. Here he discovered Einstein’s publications on space-time, and a life long journey in physics began. Rana worked on the team that built LIGO, the machine that recorded gravitational waves for the first time in 2017. A remarkable achievement that won the Nobel Prize that year.
